Hi,I'm Kathy V.As a kid I would "go back the creek"as we called it,and explore every place imagined! When I saw this article I was surprised because I would tell my friends that I didn't grow up with about Devil's Pool and Pee Wee Rock and Mickey Mouse cave. These were the places that I would go for hours. My Mom would always say don't go in the water, but every time I and my friends reached Devil's Pool we got wet!It was so much fun!I thought this was my favorite place to hang out!And even today I like to take a ride down to there and reminisce of the times my friends and I were there all day! Yes,it was pretty much in our backyards. And we should all try and go back again and pass on the stories and memories of days gone by.We also should get these places clean and STOP the pollution from being dumped there!!!Great Places like these need our help,so if you go,please keep it clean!! Thanks for the flashbacks,K.V.from Roxborough!!!

Frustrating to watch this well produced video. I have lived in and around the Wissahickon almost all my life. I started a Park clean-up program in 1990, have served on the FOW board & chaired the Fairmount Pk Historic Pres. Trust. There is no place that I know in the 9,200+ acres of FP as troubled. There is so little regard for this sanctuary among too many, as evidenced by the tremendous amount of litter, noise pollution, graffiti and lack of personal responsibility for this priceless treasure. It is tragic & depressing, in spite of FP being one of the wonders of the world.

The area around devils' pool has been subject to trashing and grafitti by iresponsible people. The Friends of the Wissahickon is making a concerted effort to clean up this area and should be AIDED BY ALL USERS!

While Devil's Pool is a great swimming hole, theres sometimes people don't know and should. Like in the summer its almost 85% effluent from waste water treatment plants.. or when it rains the treated effluent is met with untreated waste water overflow. Also, it's downstream from several pharmaceutical companies. While these companies each have a limit that they are allowed to dump in the water...remember its more than one company dumping and all these chemicals or byproducts are merging.
So its a great place to go and hang out, but be educated... you're not just swimming in the trash that you see in the area...
